I stumbled across this blog post that explains how to roast your own beans at home with a hot air popcorn popper.

Ummm, what?  I had no idea I could roast my own beans at home.  No idea.

Now, being a bit of a coffee snob, I’m a gonna have to try it to believe it.  But if it works – cool!

I think this would make a really awesome handmade Christmas gift.  If I’m stumped for a Christmas gift, I usually just buy a pound of coffee from Starbucks.  Well, move over, Breakfast Blend.  You could even create a special blend just for your family.  Roast it, package it, and stick an awesome label on it. Done and done.
