This is a yummy breakfast on a crisp, fall morning. Steel cut oats and apple butter. So comforting.
I love apple butter. Love it. There’s this amazing place in Ontario called The Big Apple : http://www.visitcramahe.ca/cramahe/tourism/apple.asp and they have apple butters and pies that are like heaven. Their apple cheesecake however. OMG.
I found the recipe in my canning book, and decided to make it. Never had apple butter before in my life – now I can’t live without it. I’ve been eating it straight from the jar with a spoon.
Ooo, GOOD REMINDER. I have a jar or two of apple butter left over from last fall that definitely needs to be eaten. With the sudden change of air temperature out here, apple butter and oatmeal sounds amazing.
Something about fall and apples – they go so well together. I have to admit, when I make my oatmeal, I make two servings – one for me, and one for the chickens. Will thinks I’m crazy, but I think the girls appreciate a hot breakfast on a chilly morning
