The weather was lovely – sunny and 28 degrees – couldn’t ask for a more perfect day. We set out the spread (I’m glad to say that my Sour Cherry Pie was a hit with everyone). No junk food to be had in sight (well, okay, there were hot dogs). It was a feast of homemade goodness – chocolate zucchini cake, radish pod pickles, hot cumin pickled squash, goat cheese dip and stuffed cherry tomatoes, toasted baguettes and farmers’ market veggies. Yum.
Then we waited for the fun to begin . . .
Can’t wait ’til next year!

Beer darts look AMAZING! You might have some neighbours crash it next year
Absolutely join us next year! It’s pretty fun – I was a bit worried that someone might call the cops because of the noise – there was a lot of cheering and screaming going on every time a beer can was hit
You all are SO FREAKING CUTE. Those shirts? Dying over here.
Oh, and the pickled cumin squash recipe? I made something very similar, if not the same, this year, and holy criminy. Yum.
It probably is the same – I think I went out and bought the book after reading about it from your blog – Canning for a New Generation. I LOVE the hot cumin pickled squash (I used zucchini), but there were some haters at the party who can’t stand cumin (ridiculous, I know). I’ve been a canning machine this week – I love that book and I want to make everything in it.
