Finally, a day off! I started the day with a little shopping, and then I attempted my first batch of pickles. Ever. Canning and pickling seems really scary, but once you get going, it’s actually pretty easy. I hope to have a pantry full of canned preserves, jams, jellies, and pickles by the end of the summer.
My Rat Tail Radishes were ripe and ready, so I harvested yesterday, and pickled today. I hope they taste as good as they look. The recipe I used recommends using them in place of capers, or on a skewer in a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary option sounds best to me.

Thanks for this! One day in the future my incompetent at canning self will need to do this for the tomatoes in the garden.
Me too! I’m going to can like a crazy woman this year. We’ll see if any of it turns out to be edible.
I have one of those pickling/canning pots if you’d like to borrow it this summer!
Thanks, Kristine. I scored an awesome huge one at a garage sale last summer – it should do me fine!
I can’t wait until you try them. It sounds so good!
I know – I hope they taste as good as they look! I’ll keep you posted
I love radish! – Yum yum!!
Too peppery for me! But these pickles are very tasty
