We went to the Farmers’ Market last Saturday . . . and came home with a bottle of whisky. Screw the veggies – there’s alcohol at the Farmers’ Market!
Apparently, there’s a distillery in Saskatchewan that takes those fields of golden grain, and turns them into bottles of golden whiskey. Magic.
It wasn’t as smooth as the Scotch I usually drink. So instead of drinking it neat, I plopped an ice cube in it, and once it melted a bit, it was lovely.
A perfect Saskatchewan drink for a smokin’ hot Saskatchewan summer day. Lord, I love this province.

I. Love. Whisky. Wiser’s Special Blend is my fav. I am always up for trying new ones!
Now that I’m in my 30s, all I want to drink is neat alcohol. Enough with the sugary mix, just give me the booze. Vodka martini? Bring it on. I’m a bit of a Scotch fiend, but I really enjoyed this whisky. Hello new obsession! I’ll have to try Wiser’s Special Blend.
It may sound strange but I’ve never drank Scotch. I’ve always enjoyed a gin and tonic or the occasional margarita. If I were to try a Scotch what would you recommend as being something to try for that first time?
Mmmmm . . . my favourite right from the start has been Bowmore Islay Single Malt Wisky (12 year). Very smoky, peaty taste. I drink that neat. Otherwise, try a Glenfiddich or Glenlivet on the rocks – two good starter Scotches!
Ah, SO LOVELY. I am a huge fan of both whiskey and bourbon. If our farmer’s market had bourbon, I’d be in trouble (and would probably visit it EVERY week).
Yeah, I’m a little afraid. Our Farmers’ Market now sells the whisky, and rhubarb wine (which is also delicious and a wonderful use of rhubarb). Might be a very drunken summer.
